A Brief History of Stuttgart

The Stuttgart area is thought to have been populated since the 10th century. It has been at the centre of several dynasties including the Kingdom of Württemberg at the height of the German Empire. The city was declared a republic during the period of the hedonistic Weimar period, and for a brief while in 1920, Stuttgart actually become the capital of the country. After the Second World War, there was a large US presence in the city until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
