History of the Jardin du Palais Saint Georges

At the time of Alain III, Duke of Brittany, in the eleventh century, the Palais Saint Georges is dedicated to the reception of Benedictine nuns. The first building erected in 1032 was burned and looted. Six hundred years later, architect Pierre Corbineau built a new building under the leadership of Magdelaine de la Fayette, an abbess. This new abbey becomes military barracks two centuries after its construction, especially during the French Revolution. Since 1938, this palace is classified as a historical monument.

In November 2012, a call for applications was launched and the Palais Saint Georges will be a 4-star hotel around 2018. The building will thus go from abbey to barracks, a luxury establishment!
