The creation of Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport stems from the public authorities' observation of an increased growth of passenger air transport in the early 1960s. On June 16, 1964, an interministerial decree authorizes the creation of the "Paris Nord" airport on a vast agricultural area north-east of Paris. It covers an area of 2,915 ha amputated in seven communes and receives a favorable opinion from the commission on October 30, 1960.
