Verone Porta Nuova

Verone Porta Nuova is located south of Verona city centre in Piazzale XXV Aprile occupying an area of 127,500 square metres. It serves 77,000 passengers and 300 trains a day. It is at the intersection of the Milan-Venice and Rome-Brennero major railway lines.

A brief history of Verone Porta Nuova

Verone Porta Nuova was initially built as a temporary wooden station but was replaced by a small masonry building in 1852. As the Italian rail lines expanded, the Posta Vescovo station could not handle additional rail thus designating Verone Porta Nuova as the city’s main station. It was reconstructed in 1910 and rebuilt to its current building from 1946 to 1949 after the station was destroyed during World War II.
